POEM - WHAT WOULD NIGERIANS DO?

What will Nigerians do?
When every day begins with a thousand of worries
Yet the streets hums with laughter _
Rising every day even when it feels like lifting stones.

What will Nigerians do?
When the leaders barter our dreams for their ambition
Corruption stands as the watch word of our leaders
And still - we dream of a country that listens.

What will Nigerians do?
When economy bites and survival becomes a full time job
Prices towering like a skyscraper
Yet we try to survive even when it is no longer surviving.

What will Nigerians do?
When injustice walks freely in daylight
Silence becomes the mother tongue of the poor
We refuse to bow, so we rise again in protest, in unity and in defiance.

What will the youths do?
When they find themselves stuck between dreams and reality?
Unsure! Whether to remain at home or japa
Praying our wings or our roots will not betray us.

What will Nigerians do?
When faith becomes our last currency of courage
When joy finds us in unexpected places
With bitterness in our hearts, we call on God, ancestors and destiny.

So what will Nigerians do?
We will stagger, but we will not fall
We will bend, but we stay uplifted
We will let our dreams become reality
For we believe that one day, this nation will rise and we will rise with it
