Group of Twenty (G20) Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa:
The G20 held its 2025 summit on 22-23 November in Johannesburg, the first time ever on the African continent. The summit is chaired by Cyril Ramaphosa, with the theme “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.” 
The G20 Summit marks an important moment for Global South leadership, with the host country bringing climate, debt, and development issues to the centre despite pushback.

Brazil’s ex-president Bolsonaro arrested to prevent ‘attempted escape':
Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was arrested on Saturday over concerns he was plotting to escape house arrest after he took a soldering iron to his ankle bracelet. The arrest at his home in Brasília, just days before he was due to begin a prison sentence for leading a coup attempt, is another setback for Bolsonaro, whose prosecution has been heavily criticized by the Trump administration.

Mexico’s Fatima Bosch crowned Miss Universe winner in glittering finale of scandal-hit pageant

Fatima Bosch of Mexico has been named Miss Universe 2025 in a scandal-hit competition where she emerged as a fan favorite after she was berated by a Thai pageant director during a pre-pageant meeting, triggering a walk out by contestants.
The 25-year-old humanitarian and volunteer was crowned by last year’s winner Victoria Kjær Theilvig from Denmark.

Philippines jails former mayor - who officials say faked her nationality to get the job

The Pasig city regional trial court in metropolitan Manila sentenced Alice Guo to life in prison with seven other Filipino and Chinese co-accused, and ordered them to pay a fine of 2 million pesos ($34,000) each and compensate several trafficking victims, who filed the complaints.
