Essentially, the skin is the largest organ of the body. It accounts for about 16% of the body weight and serves as protective barrier between your internal organs and external environment.
The skin comes in different shades ranging from light skin, to dark skin, to caramel, albinism and so many more. There are also a number of skin types which are; oily skin, normal skin, combination, dry and sensitive skin.
Also, the skin being very sensitive requires a number of steps and procedure to keep it healthy, prevent skin issues and to proper enhance your skin appearance. Here are a number of tips that will help in achieving that flawless skin:
* REGULAR CLEANSING: Use a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type to remove dirt and oil without over drying. It is advisable to use a mild oil free cleanser to wash your face if you have an oily skin.
* MOISTURIZE: Hydrate your skin with a good moisturizer to maintain its balance and prevent dryness.
* SUNSCREEN: Regular use of sunscreen protects your skin from harmful UV rays. Apply sunscreen with at least SPF30 even on cloudy days or days you're indoors.
* HEALTHY DIET: Eating healthy helps your skin too. Consume diet rich in vegetables, fruits and water for overall skin health and to keep your skin healthy and hydrated from within.
* GENTLE EXFOLIATION: Exfoliate your skin 1-3 times weekly to unclog pores and remove dead cells.
* AVOID SMOKING AND EXCESSIVE INTAKE OF ALCOHOL: Not only does smoking and drinking have adverse effects on your internal organs but also the skin, so limit smoking and intake of alcohol
* SLEEP WELL: aim for 8-9 hours of sleep each night to promote skin regulation.
* STRESS MANAGEMENT: Practice stress reducing activities like yoga, meditation, walks or exercise as stress adversely affects the skin.
* KNOW YOUR SKIN TYPE: Narrow your skincare routine to your specific skin type (Oily, dry, sensitive, normal or combination).
* NATURAL REMEDIES: You can also explore your choices of natural skin remedies which involves the use of fruits and herbs including Lemons, Honey, Aloe Vera, Turmeric and so on the skin.
In your skincare journey, consistency is key and very important. Adjust your routine based on what works for you and how your skin responds.
