IRSA Freshers Package

FRESHERS' PACKAGE ARRIVES, BUT DISSATISFACTION TRAILS DISTRIBUTION

By Taiwo Ramat
The long-awaited Freshers' Package has finally been distributed to fresh students of the Department of International Relations, Obafemi Awolowo University but rather than relief, its arrival has been met with a wave of disappointment and open rejection from several recipients.
For many fresh students, the contents of the package fell far short of expectations. The package, which contained a tote bag and a book, drew sharp reactions from students who felt it did not justify the amount paid.
"Just a tote bag and a book for 15k," one student told DSNA, capturing the frustration shared by many of their peers.
Complaints were not limited to the value for money. Several students took issue with the quality of the book, describing it as below standard, while others expressed disappointment with the tote bag, stating that it did not reflect the standard they associated with the department.
Open Rejection
The dissatisfaction went beyond words for some students. Ebunoluwa, a Part 1 student, openly rejected the book, stating that it would only serve as a reminder of her Part 1 experience and not in a good way. Another student went further, tearing the book in a visible act of rejection.
In an exclusive interview, Part 1 student, Eyimife rated the overall package 4 out of 10; a score that speaks for itself.
A Different View
Not all students, however, shared in the criticism. One student urged restraint, noting that some of their classmates were being unnecessarily harsh toward the Vice PresidenOt and that a degree of appreciation would not go amiss.
The contrasting reactions reflect a student body divided between those who feel let down by an administration that had already faced scrutiny over the package's delay, and those who believe the effort deserves at least some acknowledgement.

As the dust settles, the burden now falls on the Harbinger administration to respond to the concerns raised  and to demonstrate that the interests of the student body remain a genuine priority.

Comments

  1. I hope they are aware that it’s not only the package that is deducted from their 15k

  2. Omo, e go far sha,but like another another commenter had said, the 15k was meant for other things too not just bag and book

  3. No body restricted them in sharing bag and book. Something better and more relatable could be shared even if it is umbrella.
