DSNA:Holla V.P!!!
You are welcome Sweetheart ; Welcome to Interview With Juayo (DSNA)๐ฅ๐
Am sure we would have a good time, isn't it?๐๐
Alright! Can we start the journey?๐๐ฅ๐
I.D: Yeah...We can
DSNA:You are welcome once again V.P
Yeah,we would like you introduce yourself and all that encompasses you in a short and precise way?
I.D:Okay๐ค
My name is Idowu Akinpelu. Many people know me as ID. I'm a part four student of the department of International Relations, OAU. I'm from Modakeke in Osun state and I'm the last born of my mom.
DSNA:Now, looking at this from this angle,I could tell there is a lot to hear from considering the fact that you are the last born and this brings me to our next question: What are the early experiences and memories you had a a last born and how have you been able to combine your leadership position in relation to you been the last born of your Mom? We all know most last borns like to be pampered, you know!
I.D:There was not much of enjoyment really in my childhood, because my mom was a no nonsense person ,so it didn't really matter that i was her last. I didn't enjoy much of "last born" privileges, because she used the same iron hand she used on my older siblings on me๐น๐น
Needless to say, being the last born did not affect me taking up the leadership role. In fact I can say I've been in the leadership position literally all my life. From primary to secondary school to this level as well. Even in my family, my parents gave us the opportunity to have a say on important matters since we were kids, it doesn't matter whether you're the first or last as long as you can contribute sensibly to matters. So being the last born have never been a weakness whatsoever for me.
DSNA: Really ! I can see the work of a typical African Mum in action! Okay since we all know the experience you had with Mum ,do you mind tell us your relations with other member of the family, especially your elder siblings;was there a twist to it?
I.D:Yeah I have a good relationship with my elder siblings. Growing up my brother used to be my best friend. You know how it is among girls naa , my immediate elder sis and I used to fight a lot while growing up despite the age difference ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ but we are best of friends now
DSNA: Alright ! Am so glad yours had an exceptional twist! Your experience was quite different and I would say the kind of growing up experience you had was nothing but the best! Kudos To Your Parents...So to the next question, you mentioned you have been in the leadership position in your primary and secondary and those leadership post you held,I want our audience to know "No bi now the leadership start,e don tey ;e dey for blood"๐
I.D:Alright๐๐..
When I was in primary school, I remember being at the forefront of every activities then, be it inter-house sport and other key events and my teachers always put me in charge of overseeing things, keeping my classmates in check and all. When I got to primary 6,I was the Office girl (being in charge of the welfare of teachers and students), in JSS, I was the Assistance Senior Prefect girl and in SSS, I was the Health Prefect Girl.
DSNA: Yeah yeah๐ It is so obvious! It in You Dear... Weldone So far I.D.... We have said a lot about your personality, now let move to OAU.. Do you have any spot that triggers memories in the school? Is there any program you have attended that gave you another perspective about life and the last but not the least; How has been your academic journey so far?
I.D:To the first question, I enrolled for Diploma in Local govt studies around 2014/2015 session. So whenever I pass through the department's bus stop, it always bring back memories of those days and all.
Secondly, I've attended many programs on this campus oo, but the one I really remember and cannot forget about is IRSA Conference hosted by the Alumni of our Department in 2019. I really learnt a lot from the conference, of which some will stay with me forever.
I.D: Hmmm my academics life... To be sincere, my academics is everything to me and I've sacrificed a lot to get here so I take anything that has to do with my academics seriously. It has been a wonderful experience really but you know everything in life has its ups and downs but we thank God so far. It has been a great journey sincerely.
DSNA:I feel it high time we reduce the tension! On a lighter mood I.D ,what do you do in your leisure time?
I.D:Hmm...
Whenever I'm being asked this question I always say I'm a boring person๐น๐น๐น.. Because I don't really do much in my leisure time. What I do for fun when I'm not over thinking is watching movies, listening to music and read ( not academic book oo)๐น๐น
DSNA: Yes now๐! They called Leisure time! You are to enjoy yourself! Not reading academics books๐ฅบ ... Truthfully! There is time for everything! And to our next question I.D ;how well do you deal with tight headlines and yeah ,what inspires you to keep pushing?
I.D:Yes... I plan my time ahead even when I don't really have much to do or a deadline to meet. I normally plan my time so it's not really a task for me to beat a deadline. Unless something impromptu comes up even at that, I might just complain a little but I will meet up.
My motivation is that I've given up a lot to be here, so I can't just afford to give up on everything. The mission to get to the finish line so no amount of challenges can make me give up. And the other motivation is my Mom.
DSNA: Actually ,I am suppose to proceed to the next question! But,since you mentioned your Mom has your motivational factor ,I would like to give you a space to celebrate your Mom and let the world understand the importance of Motherhood
I.D:Thanks so much Oluwatosin. My mom was our backbone, and will always be , because the thought of not wanting to disappoint her keeps my siblings and I going everyday. She was everything you would ever wish for in a mother. Hardworking, kind, gentle/strict๐น and someone that knew the importance of family. I love and miss her everyday❤️๐ฅบ
DSNA: It Alright I.D๐... You are always and always welcome! Now let go back to official questions; You are the Vice President and am definitely you and other executive had plans before the Covid'19 pandemic, checking out the manifesto you all had structural plans,so how well have you all achieved this, any stumbling blocks ?Any message you might like to pass across to the association?
I.D:Like you said, we all (the executives) had a lot plans that we already put in motion immediately we were sworn in, but Covid-19 pandemic disrupted everything. And when we thought things were going back to normal the school management issued a restriction on things we should do: with the online classes and all. But we'll make sure we execute the germane plans before the end of our tenure.
DSNA:I do not have issue with anybody or any constituency in the association. In fact, we all relate with each other like we've known each other forever. IRSA is one big family and I know it will remain like that forever by God's grace.
And I would implore the generality of IRSA to go and pay their annual dues as well.
DSNA: Okay I.D...Am sure the association would have taken note of that.. So,are they other activities you are involved in apart from Academics? And what are your plans for the next five years?
I.D:No, for now I'm not into anything other than academics.
As for my plan for the next five years, it is as the spirit leads oo๐น๐น.. Because one thing 2020 taught me, is that we should always leave everything in God's hands. But I would like to be in a better place by then (whatever that means to my maker).
DSNA: Yeah! It alright .So I.D, would you like to give an advice to your audience especially to the Part 1students of our department?
I.D:Yes...
My advice to everyone especially the Part 1 students is to never give up on their dreams no matter how crazy or dumb it might sound to the other person. Don't listen to the naysayers, believe in yourself and the sky would be the starting point.
I would like to give a shout to my friends Rachael Adejumo, Tolulope Oguntayo(Tee_extra), Debin Collection, Mr President and the whole of Class Aniketos. Y'all are the best❤️❤️..
