DO IT YOURSELF

(DIY)

This weeks DIY we will be learning the steps to transform old t-shirts into unique throw pillows .

*Materials Needed*

1. Old t-shirts (preferably 100% cotton)

2. Scissors

3. Sewing machine

4. Thread (matching the t-shirt color)

5. Pillow insert or stuffing material

6. Measuring tape or ruler

7. Pins

8. Sewing needles (optional)

9. Decorative items (optional): ribbons, buttons, sequins, etc.

*Steps to Create a Throw Pillow*

1. *Cut the t-shirt into a square or rectangle*: Depending on the size of pillow you want to create, cut the t-shirt into a square or rectangle. Make sure to cut two identical pieces.

2. *Hem the edges*: Fold the raw edges of the t-shirt pieces 1/4 inch twice, and sew in place to create a hem.

3. *Place the two pieces right sides together*: Put the two t-shirt pieces together, with the right sides facing each other.

4. *Sew around the edges*: Sew around the edges of the pillowcase, leaving a small opening to turn the pillowcase right side out.

5. *Turn the pillowcase right side out*: Carefully turn the pillowcase right side out through the small opening.

6. *Press the pillowcase*: Press the pillowcase with an iron to create a crisp fold.

7. *Insert the pillow insert*: Insert the pillow insert or stuffing material into the pillowcase.

8. *Hand-sew the opening*: Hand-sew the small opening shut using a needle and thread

*Tips and Variations*

- Add embroidery, appliques, or other decorative elements to give the pillow or wall hanging a personalized touch.

- Use a different shape or size of pillow or wall hanging to create a unique and eye-catching design.

- Consider adding a lining or a backing to the pillow or wall hanging for added stability and durability.
