A DAY AS A MOREMI HALL RESIDENT

Hi, I am Soma, this is a day in my life as a stay lite in Moremi hall, OAU campus. Residents of this hostel are called Moremi queens.
The day started with me waking up to bright shining light, because the light switch in my room can't be switched off (can you imagine that?!), I did my devotion, brushed my teeth, then I proceeded to get water to take a bath, on getting to the tap, I switched it on only to realize that the water was no different from "watery milk", and I knew I couldn't use it to have a bath. I left to go outside the hostel to fetch water, do you know what's harder than climbing two flights of stairs while carrying two full 15litres buckets, it's being out of breath, and having to hold your breath while passing the toilet and bathroom on the way to your room.
After the whole water facade, I proceeded to take my bath. In the bathroom, I always take precision to pick the right bathroom stall because, out of six stalls available for a block, two are leaking from the block above, which is very disgusting, imagine having a bath, and you feel water from the person having a bath all the way from the block upstairs ... Ewww.
So, after having a rushed bath(because I can't stand the smell of the bathroom),  I go to my room to get changed. I always close the door if not my roommates will remind me to. Why? because of the smell of the gutter at the front of the room. When I say gutter, you think of a deep hole with black, dirty water... Wrong, that's just Nigerian gutter.
A gutter is a prepared channel intended for the drainage of water... and other liquids.
There are 10 rooms in a block, and the drain is in the fifth room, so Room 1 and room 5 have the opportunity of hosting the drain. I stay in room 1, so my roommates and I have the opportunity of inhaling the "scents" that come with a drain.
After I dressed up amidst the whole "situation", I made my way to the academic area.
Majorly, my classes start from 9am-6pm, I'm not a worker yet I have such a wonderful schedule.
I came back and decided to switch up the cycle of my school life, so I fetched water in the night in preparation for the next day.
I believe that efforts have been made to correct all of the issues of the hostel, such as the renovation of blocks in the hostel, and the consistency of the cleaners in performing their duties.
One thing I love about staying on campus is the proximity to classes and the fact that I don't have to spend a dime to come to campus, because of the two advantages, I can overlook everything and I pick staying on campus anyday, anytime.
