IRSA IN OUR HANDS-ONE YEAR LATER-OAU department's President speaks up

When Adebowale Damilola was voted in as the new President of the International Relations Students Association,OAU alongside other new excos,little did he know that him and his new team will be retaining the position across three years. While this might be a weird thought just exactly a year ago when he was voted in (November 20,2019),this is exactly the story playing out, sequel to this,the Part 4 International Relations student and President has addressed his colleagues.

Here is a copy of his address obtained by the Diplomatic Suites News Agency;

'While I was writing this I asked myself several questions one of which was "Is this necessary?". And after thinking it through I concluded that it is.

Today makes it exactly one year that you trusted me and other executives with your votes and  elected us into offices and if time went according to the way man proposed it to be, maybe today would have been the day we cease to be referred to as executives. But then— Man proposes, God disposes.

Personally, I never thought I will be holding on to this position for over a year and if we were to nominate words to describe 2020, I will nominate "Unpredictable" cause everything that happened this year is definitely not what we hoped for, prayed for or even imagine it to be. We got into office with good thoughts, beautiful manifestoes and exciting plans but circumstances put them on hold and in all sincerity this got me discouraged and frustrated at a point, especially during the lockdown.

Each time I think about the support I got and how people converted their trust in me into votes so I can preside over the association and deliver to them a department that we can all be proud of coupled with my passion to make this happen I realize my Aluta must continua so Victoria can ascerta.

Prior to the lockdown caused by the pandemic coupled with the present ASUU strike that gave birth to us sitting at home... We have started working towards some of our plans with the limited resources available.

So here is my message; though times and seasons have pass but my passion remain the same. I want the generality of IRSA to know that together with other executives we haven't forgotten what we promised and *we remain committed to our vision and mission to see to the growth and progress of our association*. Your trust and believe in us is what rekindles our fire not to give up.

I can't wait for all this to be over so we can all meet again but while we wait for our schools to resume... Enjoy and stay safe'.

Adebowale Damilola
President, International Relations Students Association.
