November, the eleventh month of the Gregorian calendar sits in between October and December. This is a month in which goals and project which has been left undone are meant to be concluded.The weather also during this period starts to get intense.
The month November and most of its traditions can be traced back to the ancient times of the Roman empire. Its name has remain the same until 45 BC. The ancient Roman calendar was at first made up of ten months in which November was the ninth. It was during this period that the Julian calendar was adopted and two new months were added to the ten months making it a number of twelve months.
Fact number one: On the 19th of November 1978, its still known to this day in which the largest group suicide took place in Jonestown Guyana. This group of people who committed this act, were instructed to do so by Reverend Jim Jones. Jones was the leader of this suicide cult called the "People's Temple". Over 900 of his cult members were instructed by him to drink cyanide-laced drink and most of them being forced to consume it.
Fact number two: John F. Kennedy known as JFK was fatally shot along with his wife in a procession of cars on the 22nd of November 1963. Although, he was taken to a hospital late and was proclaimed dead at 1pm that day. After Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, and William McKinley, Kennedy was the fourth US president to be assassinated.
Fact number three: The month of November was called "Blod Monath", or blood month by the Anglo-Saxons. This was as a result of traditionally slaughtering of cows during this period to make provision of abundant food for the long Winter months.
Facts number four: On November 1605, a group of Roman Catholics planned to blow up the English parliament while King James I was inside. Fortunately, the plot was destroyed. One of the conspirators is known to be Guy Fawkes. This marks a historic day in the UK.
In addition, the 3rd of November, 1957 makes it a historic day for both Russia and the world. This was as a result of the successfully first launched spacecraft carrying a live passenger into space. The passenger, Leika which was a dog, a stray pooch who had been found on the streets of Moscow.
Furthermore, most notable people of the world were born in this month which include the likes of; Mark Twain, Leonardo DiCaprio, Wiston Churchill, Kurt Vonnegut and Scarlett Johansson.
