North Korea, officially the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), is a country in East Asia that occupies the northern half of the Korean Peninsula. It shares borders with China, a small stretch with Russia, and South Korea, while also lying between the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan (East Sea). Its geographical position, combined with its political stance, makes it one of the most isolated nations in the world.
