If Nigeria Fails, African Race Has Failed – V.P Kashim Shettima:
Vice President Kashim Shettima issued a high-profile warning that if Nigeria fails economically and socially, it would be a setback for the entire Black race, thus underscoring national pressure on governance and performance.

Following the recent coups in West Africa, ECOWAS President declared a West African state of emergency, pushing member states including Nigeria to reassess or reinforce their collective security strategy.

Nigeria’s Security: Investigation has shown that a significant portion of police forces are tied up in “VIP protection duties,” from school runs to personal errands, restricting deployment in frontline security operations against kidnappings and violent crime. Recent directives to reverse this practice are being implemented, to combat the insecurity crises going on in Nigeria.

Nigeria’s food sector is under economic stress with its food import bill reaching nearly ₦6 trillion in 2024, while exports barely matched this, creating a significant trade imbalance. This situation deepens inflationary pressures and food insecurity.

The annual Detty December cultural economy, when Nigerians at home and abroad travel for holidays and festivities, is projected to generate about $2 billion. But stakeholders warn that inflated prices and weak tourism infrastructure at airports, hotels and entertainment venues may undermine this growth.
