High Data Price... A Barrier to Students' Success.

Effects of High  Data Prices on Students 
        Internet access has become an important aspect of education . From online classes to digital libraries, students mostly depend on data to stay connected, complete assignments and having access to learning resources. However the high costs of data has made it difficult for students especially in the  developing regions.

One of the most important effects of high data costs is that it reduces access the educational materials. Students mostly struggle to download lecture videos, attend online class and research. For instance, students are often forced to choose between buying data or essential things like food and transport. The lack of affordable internet, has led to incomplete assignment, unable to actively participate In online class, missing deadlines and so on.
Digital Divide and Inequality
    High data costs of has widen the gap between students from different economic background, while some are able to afford it some are not . Those who can afford  reliable internet benefits are richer in learning experience and those that are less privileged are left behind due to economic inequality. This enhances the existing social and economic inequalities.
Mental Health and Stress 
      The pressure of keeping up with academic demand without sufficient access to the internet has significant impact on students mental . The high level of stress that comes with feeling left behind, the fear of missing an important information, class or even submitting an assignment. This leads to burnout and sense of helplessness, which have impact on student learning and wellbeing.
Coping Mechanisms
Students results to studying in an internet café, using free WIFI or depending on friends and family for hotspot, this is  just for temporary relief . It is time wasting, having to leave  their hostel or home to a friends house, school library in other to get access to internet, it put students  at risk and consumes valuable time  to study  and this also has impact on their general well-being.



       The high costs of data is not just a financial issues, it is also an education crisis. From academic Impact, inequality and mental health and stress on students due to the high cost of data .The government, educational institutions and the telecom companies should work  together to reduce date prices and create access to affordable internet. Initiatives like  students data subsidies, free education portal, this will bridge the gap between students and  ensure that all student succeed in  this digital world.
