Taking Responsibility     Who do we hold responsible in times like this? This is the question that pops to mind on hearing the news of Sylvester's death. The parents who some feel didn't note the signs of bullying in their child? The school for trying to cover up the scandal? The bullies who made young Sylvester meet his untimely death? Or even the parents of the bullies for not bringing up their children properly? Who exactly do we cast the blame on? Incidence like these aren't new to the society. But the bone of contention shouldn't be who to take the blame but how we can all take responsibility and prevent this scenario from repeating itself.      As parents, take responsibility! Observe your children. Watch them for signs of withdrawal or exaggerated confidence. Let them be able to share their deepest secrets and fears with you. INSTRUCTIONS TO PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS FOR THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION 1. PAYMENTS Candidates who have been offered admission into Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife in 2020 JAMB Admission Exercise are advised to check their names from Obafemi Awolowo University Website ( www.oauife.edu.ng ) or  eportal.oauife.edu.ng and follow the procedures as laid out. Candidates are required to log on to University e-portal using their UTME Number to select payment activity and then choose the Type of Payment (Main Charges, Accommodation) and indicate Mode of Payment (Bank Branch /Transfer / Master Card i.e. ATM) in order to link the payment to REMITA. If Bank Branch is selected, download RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) and use it to pay by cash in any BANK OF YOUR CHOICE that accepts cash payment to REMITA. Tosin Isedowo     A final year student of Foreign Language, Obafemi Awolowo University, Adesina Omowunmi died yesterday evening from a brief illness after she was neglected at the University Health Center.     Due to this lackadaisical behavior from the Health Center, the students decided to go on a protest to express their grievances and sadness with the sole aim of informing the school authorities to attend to their demand of putting an end to the Monotonous Structure of the Health Center.     As early as 7am the protest started, with the students Union leading the protest,the students protested all the way from health center to campus gate expressing their grievances ,with the Aluta spirit in them, they clamored For The Vice Chancellor  To address them and attend to their demands.  Consequently, as a result of the protest which lead to several blockades of road terminals and the fight for a change ,the school authorities d...

OAU DISMISSES ENGLISH LECTURER DR. ADEBAYO INDICATED OF SEXUAL SCANDAL

 Isedowo Oluwatosin Temijuayolo The lecturer was specifically accused of breaching the provisions of the university’s Code of Conduct in the manner he related with a student of the department, Rachel Momoh. The Governing Council of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has dismissed Dr. Adebayo Mosobalaje, a lecturer at the Department of English Language in the Faculty of Art, who was allegedly found guilty of sexual demeanor against a female student. This was announced in a statement by the university’s Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, titled, ‘Sexual harassment: OAU dismisses another lecturer’, on Tuesday. But when contacted for comment, Mosobolaje neither picked his telephone calls nor responded to a text message sent to him. Tears, remembrance as Candle light procession is conducted for Ifelaw graduate, Joy

Sunday evening saw the Candle light procession for one of OAU’s bright minds, Queen Ananwureyi Ohine Joy who sadly passed away on August 14 2021. She was a graduate of the Faculty of Law, OAU and was a member of the Association of Campus Journalists ( ACJ) while on campus. The procession which was organized by the Ajayi Oluwafemi ( Efem Castro) led Students’ Union Electoral Commission proceeded from SUB to Akintola, then to Faj and Moremi before moving to Law, and then back to the SUB.   While paying Joy her last homage, her roommate, Fadeelat said, "we were roommates, we stayed on the same floor for four good sessions, and we were roommates twice, I don't know what to say honestly because everything reminds me of Joy. Even when Joy was going through a lot of things, she will still put a smile on her face, she will still come to my bed saying 'Fadeelat what is wrong with you'. Twitter ban to be lifted soon as FG demands Nigerian office

The International Relations Students Association hosted a mountaineering event for it's Freshmen on 7th August, 2021. The IRSA President and other Executive members were present, same as  MC Talk Talk, Hype man Jordan and others who were present to spice things up, a DSNA reporter was there to cover the event. The procession converged at Anglomoz where they took off at around 7:50am passing through Architecture department down to First Bank Lecture theater and towards the school zoo entrance when rain disrupted the movement. The downpour became heavier just after the group passed the Faculty of Agriculture so they had to find shelter from the natural element. They found shelter at the entrance of Duduyemi Lecture theater and had FUNCTIONS while they waited for the rain subside.
